Hailing from the royal dynasties of Paithani region of Maharashtra, Paithani silk sarees are known as the richest sarees in Maharashtra. All these sarees are hand woven in double warp and are woven from fine pure Mulberry silk. Initially, the Paithani sarees are woven with Silk in weft and borders whereas Cotton is used in body of the saree. Nowadays, only Silk is used in both warp and weft. The sarees are known for liberal use of Gold zari and the patterns are inspired from flora and birds. Paithani sarees are a must for every Maharashtrian traditional occasions.
